An amazing traditional rug

The Moroccan Boujaad rug

The Moroccan Boujaad rug from the Liberty Rugs collection was first crafted in circa 1940 using flat weaving and hand knotted rug making beautiful techniques. In absolutely perfect condition , the rug features traditional bright colors formed by combining the original natural colors of sheep’s wool with natural dyes made from organic ingredients such as saffron, henna, indigo, wild mint and pomegranate, as well as a subtle gilt woven into the pattern.

The Berbers carefully preserve their heritage of technique and knowledge passing down messages in wool from one generation to another. While preserving history, the elemental nature of Berber weaving is a pure and realistic execution of the traditional instinct.

The Moroccan carpets

In Morocco, carpets are used above all by people in order to protect themselves from the cold in Berber tents, Kasbahs and houses, preventing the cold from rising from the ground. They are also a medium of expression for Moroccan women who, in a geometric coded language, display the significant events of their existence on the carpets.

A Moroccan rug will often be decorated with lozenges, triangles, crosses varied and also with some beautiful horizontal and vertical lines. The Carpets will tell you about their birth, spread happiness around the house and welcome your guests in the best way possible!

The Moroccan Beni Ouarain carpets also have a decorative role, highlighting a wooden table, a shade, a piece of furniture or a sofa. A red carpet of Chichaoua can marry a dark or black living room and a light or white coffee table.

The Beni Ouarain white cotton rugs can accommodate the same wedding of colors red, white and black. The variety of shapes and colors of Moroccan carpets offers a wide range of decorative styles for the living room, the office, dining room, corridors and also bedrooms.

The use of natural fibers

In Morocco, the weaving of baskets is an old artisan tradition, using natural fibers in the form of ribbon, notably the leaves of a dwarf palm of the Mediterranean perimeter, very common in Morocco as on the southern flanks of the High Atlas massif. It should be called false palm doum, the real doum palm, larger and branched, being native to tropical Africa.

Moroccan baskets are usually braided in palm around the Moroccan countryside, these palm leaves were widely used to make braided articles for domestic or agricultural use such as baskets, mats or baskets. Here you will find woven baskets in Marrakech according to the ancestral craft techniques of Morocco and colored with natural vegetable dyes.

Over time, Moroccan artisans have adopted new materials and offer a complete range of equipment for the home and garden. Beniouarain offers wicker or rattan ceilings, as well as sofas, armchairs, tables, or decorative tajine dishes and other original craftworks.

The art of Moroccan pottery

The working methods of the Moroccan craftsmen remained faithful to the ancestral tradition of their Berber origins. But innovation is present in Moroccan handicrafts, as evidenced by the iron pottery.

Featuring chiseled iron fittings, Moroccan iron pottery reveals a special charm with their stylized archaic appearance that makes them very decorative. Moroccan craftsmanship surprises once again with all its creative richness.

These stylized potteries make it possible to design the decoration of an original Moroccan living room, to garnish an entrance or to bring a particular touch to your dining room or to a desk.
